Plasma activation
Surface activation/surface modification

The surfaces of many industrial plastics such as polyolefins (PE, PP, EPDM, or PTFE) are nonpolar to the extent that they lacquers, inks, and adhesives do not sufficiently wet them.

Hydrophobic surface of a polymer before plasma treatment Same surface after plasma treatment

Low-pressure plasma technology can be used to chemically modify these surfaces. Polar groups can be integrated to achieve optimum adhesion of lacquers or adhesives.
